some of you might already know that after my trip to new hampshire / maine last year i've become a huge fan of lobster rolls. you can imagine my delight when my travel companion from that trip mentioned a brooklyn restaurant that prepared it's own version. lobster on a hot dog bun, how can that be a bad thing? and without the 500-mile trip to wiscasset, maine! as butthead once said, "i'm there dude"… i arrive at robert's place around 10:30:

guess whose bike has more trunk space....

as robert grabs his gear I admire his new art acquisition:

over the hudson and though manhattan to brooklyn fish camp we go! well more like under the hudson. we take the lincoln tunnel in, loop around the bottom of manhattan and zip across the brooklyn bridge. the ride over the bridge is amazing as the steel support structure passes overhead. from the bridge we hop onto flatbush ave. a few miles down the road we turn right on 5th ave and we are there!

we arrive right at 12 as they are opening for lunch. as we sit at the stainless steel bar there are a few telltale sings that this is going to be a good meal:

time out's best new restaurant in brooklyn for 2006! nice! also you have to appreciate an establishment that uses a spent old bay can to hold straws:

as i glance over the menu i see that they serve lobster pot pie. wow! i find that hard to resist but robert then reminds me of what we came there for. as we wait for our lobster rolls we start with an order of delicious lobster knuckles:

And then the main event::

while different from the "bare bones" lobster roll we had in maine the result the same. happiness! the "lobster salad" topped with chives on a roll hits the spot. and this is the 1st time i've had french fries sprinkled with salt and malt vinegar. it accompanies the lobster perfectly!
